Creating connection to Labranet VPN

Start -> Settings -> Network Connections

From Network Tasks, choose option ”Create a new connection”. Click Next.

Choose “connect to the network at my workplace”. Click next.

Choose Virtual Private Network connection. Click next.

Type the name of the connection, for example Labranet (or whatever you like).

Hostname for labranet VPN is vpn.labranet.jamk.fi. Click next.

Now, double click your newly created connection. Type your Labranet username and password to the form, format for username is “labranet\username”. Click connect.

And if all went well, you’ve just established connection to Labranet.

Mapping your home folder

From Start-menu, click run (or press Windows+r) and then type \\storage.labranet.jamk.fi\homes\your_username to the field and click OK.

Now you should see your homefolder.

Mapping your home folder to network drive

Choose drive-letter. Write \\storage.labranet.jamk.fi\homes\username to the Folder field.

Then click “Connect using a different user name”.

Fill in your username (format labranet\username) and your password. Click OK.

You may want to choose “Reconnect at logon” but it is not recommend.
