Missing programs and features on classroom machines

24.09.2018 - 10:51

We have noticed numerous issues on the classroom workstations regarding Start menu and some applications. Common issues currently occurring are:

  • Cannot see any programs on Start menu or Desktop
  • Cannot use search features
  • Cannot open Windows 10 native applications such as calculator

We are currently investigating these issues. In the meantime, one can use the Programs -shortcut on the desktop to access software:

If even the Programs -shortcut is missing from the Desktop, software can be found in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) -folders manually.

On new installations, waiting for a period of time (15 minutes) and signing out/in can help also.

LabraNet VPN Service

16.08.2017 - 13:30

LabraNet VPN service has been updated to a more secure protocol. This means the old server, vpn.labranet.jamk.fi, will be gracefully laid to rest during the upcoming fall semester (probably week 42). Users should use the new server at sslvpn.labranet.jamk.fi from this point forward and to reflect this change, LabraNet Remote Access Guide has been updated with instructions on how to set up the new connection.

Set up your new connection!

Should you encounter any issues, please contact LabraNet Helpdesk.

Microsoft Imagine Academy webstore issue

18.07.2017 - 08:53

There is an ongoing issue with Microsoft Imagine Academy webstore. Some products yield erroneous download links which result in 403 Forbidden error messages. MS Imagine webteam at Kivuto is looking into the issue and hopefully it will be resolved soon.

UPDATE 21.9.2017! So far it seems this is a problem limited to Funet and Telia customers, so as a workaround you should try downloading your products from a different network if possible.

REMINDER: Seeing as this is *still* an issue, we would like to remind you that you will still get valid licences through Imagine Academy. You can obtain the installation media elsewhere. One example is the Windows 10 media creation tool Microsoft offers.
